Please forgive me for asking such a stupid question, but I am not used to my Road King 1 yet....
I have the 2x12 Road King cab that accompanies the head. I'm not entirely sure of the correct method of connecting the head to the cab. I have read in the manual to NOT use the A+B selector on the channel strips if only using one cab. Yet the cab itself has A, B or A+B. I would like both speakers to operate simultaneously. Can someone please explain exactly how I connect them properly? I know how unbelievably stupid this sounds, but honestly, the manual doesn't cover this thoroughly enough that is very straight-forward....thanks for your patience and understanding!

In a Nutshell, with a Road King cab, you can cable A to A and B to B. The way the cabinet is designed, it can be thought of as 2 cabs in one. You will use the 4Ohm jacks on each A and B.

If only using A, you need to insert a 1/2" shorted jack to the B jack to maintain load on it. You would then plug the cab into 4Ohm jack on the amp and A/B on the cab. The shorting jack may not be necessary if the Switch is set to A, but I would not risk it. That is an expensive amp.

I would just run it A-A B-B and be done with it. That is the way it was designed to work.

I very much appreciate your answer. I was confused by the channel designation as well as the speaker cab options. Originally, I set everything to A+B and plugged into A+B...seemed logical. But, after reading the manual, I set everything to A on the channels, and plugged into A+B on the cab, and voila! Previous to that, I had no volume and mushy tone. Now it sparkles and roars like it's supposed to. It's an amazing amp!

Man I am just striking out lately. Glad you got it worked out. I would pay attention to the shorting jack in the B side. May want to give Mesa a buzz about that. But it should just be a jack with the tip shorted to the ring.

Actually, you provided an excellent answer, one that I may try at some point. I inherited this amp from my father, and he had the short plug on A instead of B. That was something else I noticed in the manual and changed it back to B. I am also going to test out the head with another cab I use just to check out the difference in tone.
