RK Fan Noise

Is it me or is the fan noise just overbearing on these road king amps? The amp is really fantastic otherwise but the blower on this thing is just way too loud. I would like to know how people deal with the fan noise when playing and recording at modest volumes?

Doesn't get picked up by my SM57 when my amp is at recording volume. So any amp noise not coming from the speaker is a non-issue

I don't think it's that bad. My computer fans are louder. Just keep turning it up until you can't hear them no more. :lol:

I did one better. I sold the RK2 amp for a profit and bought a Fuchs ODS. I must say it has a fan that is practically silent. :lol:

I'm sure you could buy a quieter fan and install it in the same spot. I am looking into it.

Shoot, I'd just move the cabinet away from the head. Put the head on a chair or something. A longer (but not too long) speaker cable is probably cheaper and easier than installing a new fan. If you have a combo, you'd need a separate cabinet, though.

When you are recording it is common practice to unplug the fan. Not always necessary. If you are going on break or long sets you can plug it back in or run a other (house) fan on it well not recording. Some amps are a lot easier than other to get at the fan.

Are you using a halfstack? If so, can you run the head and the cab in different rooms?
