Because UPS does that by default when there is a damage claim put in.

That doesn't make any sense. They should have been able to send a claim inspector to where the amp is.

You need to appeal UPS's claim denial.
 
I've had multiple issues with UPS over the years and finally decided to switch to FedEx when they opened Ground shipping. They have never broken anything and are much cheaper as well. UPS sucks and I will never use them again unless it's to ship a pair of fucking socks. Good luck with your fiasco and I am sorry to hear it.
