Hi guys I recently aquired a Rectoverb combo version 1. It's a decent amp but ever since I got it the solo boost hasn't worked.(got it Friday)I plan on bringing it to a Mesa dealer for work but I just want to know if this a common problem for these amps. Also the reverb tank came with it but is not in it. I got the amp from a local guy but he has only had it a short while and sold it cause he needed the money. He told me the tank was shot but when I asked about the boost he said he never used the footswitch so he didn't know about it. I'm not really going to hold him to fix it I got a good deal I think? I paid $300.00 for it. Not really a big deal on the verb as I have a reverb I can run in the loop, however the boost needs to be fixed. I'm pretty sure this amp is fairly old its serial number R50 00658. I'm not sure what year it is and I haven't had any luck finding info on these. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

I've got a ROV v.2. It has solo boost but requires a foot switch. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure v.1 ROV did not have solo boost. You can download the owners manuals at Mesa website. It's a Solo 50/ Recto-verb versions 1 & 2. Check it out.

I talked with Mesa Boogie today it is a version 1 made in May 1999. As far as the solo boost they seemed to think maybe the cord or the footswitch. But it may be the amp. I did look at both manuals as you said it seem is different from the pics but only on the back where the knob for the effects loop is placed. Oh it also set up for 6l6 no switch.at least the I saw. Thanks for you help though!

For boost, get an EQ pedal and place in the loop. Adjust the output side of the EQ higher and adjust the EQ sliders in a 'frown'.... instant boost and instant cut. Just watch the channel volume going into the pedal as you can drive (clip) the pedal's input side (at least with the MXR 10 band you can. The pedal does warn you).

The MXR 10 band is a good EQ pedal. I own two, one out front and one in the loop. Can do plenty for your tone if you're after variation.

Good luck.
