I'm considering a RoV series 1 Head to round out the high gain spectrum in my collection...(currently Blue Angel, BadCat Panther(midgain))

Blues/Rock style; G&L ASATs...Bluesboy solidbody and ASAT Special Deluxe; mesa 412 v30s and open back C90 cabs...

Any reason not to grab it for a good deal?

I've had T'verb, Roadster heads in the past and had NO complaints other than WEiGHT. Mark IV/IIC+ combo's were also deadly heavy...

is the series 1 reliable... any reason to hold out for the series 2 other than the ugly knobs on the series one???

I'd hold out for Series 2 as they updated the clean. The clean on the Series 1s is harsh, ice picky, in your face, and just not very useful IMO.

Agreed; hold out for a Series 2. I have one and love it

I had a rectoverb II which had that great hot sound, but I did not think the reverb was anything to write home about. I tried it against the series I. The II had a 3 modes in the hot channel instead of 2, and the reverb knobs on the front panel instead of the back.

You can also consider a solo 50 with a good reverb pedal throught the loop, which I have now. The Holy Grail reverb pedal is much better than the stock rectoverb spring unit.
