Question about single rectifier

I am trying to upgrade my current head and was wondering about the single rectifier vs. the dual rectifier. I really like the really bright high-gain sound of this amp along with kranks and I am looking for a parkway drive, killswitch engage, machinemade god, it dies today sound. I am currently running a peavey JSX through a mesa rectifer cab with a boss ns-2(not boosted)with the mids really scooped but I want a brighter more high gain sound. Would the single rectifier be enough to play with my band in practices and at shows non-miked and does it have the really pushed tube sound that the dual rectifier has. Thnks

The Single rec is a great amp. What it lacks is the tighter bass response and more headroom of the DR, channel assignable loop, and tube rectification. The SR is still plenty loud but you can acheive power tube saturation by cranking the output and keeping the master lower. I don't have much experience with newer 3ch DR's and you may be able to acheive the same effect with them.

For the tones that you suggested I'd recommend EL34's (for either the SR or DR) and push the amp with a good OD like a TS808 or Maxon 808. Without the combination of these two either one is going to have a "looser" feel that that DR's have. GOing from the Peavey JSX I think you'll be happier with the tones the SR or DR produce. Keep in mind that both amps are designed to be cranked to truly get to the tone your looking for.

The SR and Rectoverb are overlooked amps IMO.

well parkway drive uses the 2 chan dual and killswitch now use roadsters so 2 chan dual would be the way to go not to say the single is a bad amp the dual would be more suited

A Single Rec into the Mesa Cab would sound awesome for those tones. A Dual would sound even better but if you don't have the cash for that a Single would still be awesome. Stick to 6L6s. Parkway Drive use a Dual Rec and a 5150, both of which sound awesome live and I'm sure they use 6L6 in the Recto to get that sound.

+1. I have a Dual Rec and a Single Rec as a backup. The SR does not have as much headroom and has no tube rectification but sounds great nonetheless. It also has a much smaller footswitch which is great for pedal board management. A Single Rectifier is an awesome amp BUT if money is not the issue I would recommend the DR.
