Hi,

I am currently playing through a Fifty Caliber+ but considering that most of my playing is at home these days, it is just too much amp. I have just started shopping for a Lonestar Special and am considering getting a stand alone head and an extension cab. Years ago I bought a couple of non-labeled "Mesa" cabinets that have been sitting in a corner ever since. I use the quotes around Mesa because I really have no way of verifying the make since there are no labels anywhere. Each is a closed back 1x12 ported cabinet with an old OEM EVM 12L speaker in it. I just hooked them up to the Fifty Caliber+ and they sound great.

My question is....would these cabinets/speakers be a good match for a LSS head or would it be better to go with a combo?

Thanks in advance!

Scott

I would go with the extension cabs. It gives you more flexibility. I have an LSS head with an LSS 4x10 cab and a Lopoline 2x12 cab filled with Eminence Legend GB128's. Between the two, I can get all the sounds I need.

Sounds like a "to die for" cab/speaker set up! Anything else would be inferior :!:

The LSS can do a lot of different things well through different cabs. I started out with a combo that ended up in a head cab that gets plugged into just about everything. I really dig the LSS with a closed back 2x12". I'm toying with the idea of ordering a head cab for my 5:25 too.

Thanks all. I went ahead and sprung for the LSS head and am about to put the 50 Caliber+ up for sale. I am looking forward to having the greater control that the LSS should offer for low volume playing.
