Hi all,
I have a boogie quad pre-amp which I love, however I have been having problems with the 3 modes that offer distortion, ie Lead 1 and 2 and Rhythm 2. Recently I've noticed that when I hit a striong hard enough to just push it into clip the sound becomes flubby and gritty, its as though there is a poor quality distortion on top of the excellent quality distorted tone below. The problem is quite subtle.
I've tried changing tubes, cleaning pots, replacing the switch that switches between line level and low level for the FX loop etc, nothing has cured it.
I have heard of problems with "opto" couplers, which may mean that the signal from one channel is leaking to another and hence causing some crossover. The problem gets worse when the unit has been on for some time.
Has anyone else experienced this problem ?
Many thanks !
