I'm still thinking about that total amp swap I was talking about a few weeks ago.. (trading out the Road King for a Dr. Z and trading the AC30cc for a Rectoverb). I had a Rectoverb, but I can't remember how much gain is on tap in "pushed" mode on channel 1?? I know it's not a lot of gain, but I'm just wondering if it's something that I can use for classic rock or even harder rock (not hard rock, just a bit harder than "classic rock".... Maybe Bon Jovi or Poison....you know, 80s hair rock) if I pushed it with a Tubescreamer??

Anyone got any clips of the Pushed mode full open??

I can't speak for the ROV but on my Dual, I used the pushed mode a lot in conjuction with pedals to get a nice bite/burn to the notes. IE: routing a fuzz into it gives it an 'amp about to blow up' sound with a silicon fuzz.

I use it with a TS all the time too for a nice early breakup snarl.. it's surprisingly touch sensitive with my OCD too.. if I play lightly on my LP it's quiet and the harder I dig it the more snarl it has.

I'm not sure if the ROV has the 'raw' mode on the vintage channel 2 drive but you'd be much better off in that mode with an OD pedal for sure. The pushed mode doesn't really get all that hard in my opinion on the dual.

Thanks for the info Plat...... But I'm really needing 2 levels of distortion. Channel 1 for a nice medium gain (Pushed +/- a TS) and channel 2 Vintage with gain at 3:00 for the heavy stuff.

I can't live without the Vintage mode, it's probably one of my favorite tones out there.

If I get some time this week, I'll make some demos of my pushed mode for you:

1) guitar into amp
2) guitar into OD into pushed
3) guitar into fuzz into pushed

Here you go Tele, sorry for the delay, work sucks :p

And sorry for lack of feeling as well as the same sort of scale/chords in the clips, just trying to demonstrate tones so you have a basis of comparison.

1) Pushed with no OD: http://platypus.memoryfire.com/tele/pushed.avi

This demonstrates the amount of gain on tap in the DR alone.

2) Pushed with OCD: http://platypus.memoryfire.com/tele/pushed_ocd.avi

OCD engaged, riffing around.

3) Pushed with OCD 2: http://platypus.memoryfire.com/tele/pushed_ocd2.avi

Switching between neck/bridge soloing, demonstrating the amount of sustain.. especially in the neck.

4) Pushed with OCD 3: http://platypus.memoryfire.com/tele/pushed_ocd3.avi

This is classic rock demonstration with OD.

5) Pushed with TS:
http://platypus.memoryfire.com/tele/pushed_ts.avi

Same riff as before but now with TS, note the vast difference in tone :p

Hope that helps you out, if there's something else you want more specifically or clarified let me know!

Plat man........You are great!!! Thanks a million, that's exactly what I was looking for! And the clip with the Tubescreamer was even more dead on since I have 2 of those and a Jekyl and Hyde pedal which is a TS808 copy on the Jekyl side.

Thanks again and maybe someday I can return the favor?!?!?
