I just purchased a rectifier . the person before forgot to take the ptotective wrap off the tubes. He said he never used the head.I guess I know why.I have peeled most back but there is a patch of plastic about the size of a dime left on the tubes. Can I still run the head until the plastic burns off. Please help with advice

I would not recommend running the amp with the melted plastic still on. You're not likely to harm yourself with the fumes, unless you're really whiffing it in close proximity, but it'll smell up the room something awful. Yuck!!

The tube is glass, and can take a scraping. I recommend gently scraping the plastic off the tube. If you want to be extra careful, use a plastic utensil (spoon or knife) to scrape with - it is softer than the glass, and you won't risk breaking the tube.
