my friend has one of the new stilletto dueces and we are wondering if it is worth a shot to try 6L6's in it? Your help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think the Stilettos can just take 6L6's without the installation of a pot in the circuit to correct bias voltage.

Agreed. You could hurt your amp or more importantly possibly get hurt yourselves trying to do this.

If you want 6L6's then get a Recto. I wouldn't mess with a tube amp as that can make them very angry!

I suppose it would be an interesting idea. I guess if you had the cash to spare a stiletto head and the time/expertise to convert it to use the 6L6. Anything's possible.

Maybe it would be a unique sound, like a recto with EL34's.

find a friend that has a dual rec. Use the Stilleto as strictly a preamp, and use the dual rec as nothing more than the power amp. That is as close as you are going to get I'm afraid.
