Hello.
I own Mesa 2: Ninety poweramp with 4x12 Recto Cab and Studio Preamp.
I want to get preamp with more channels. I need to get lead, crunch and clean sound in one time, but in STUDIO PRE it is not possible. I also need little bit more modern tone. How about TRIAXIS? I heard that it has a FET built in and in compare with QUAD and STUDIO Pres it losts lot of ''analog'' sound. Please help me!

The Triaxis is one of the best sounding tube preamps money can buy. Here's another one to consider (if you have a few thousand dollars to spare): http://www.musicplayers.com/reviews/guitars/2008/0408_ENGLe580.php

The Triaxis will be your best best for modern sounds with lots of options.

Don't worry about the Triaxis not sounding "analog" enough.

It sounds great and will give you all the versatility you want.

+1 on the TriAxis. It can sing, chime, or slay. Plus you get the neato switching options for your power amp.

The only thing that is transistor based in the Triaxis is the dynamic voice section, which is the equivalent of the graphic eq's on many Boogies. The clipping and gain stages are all tube. By the way, the graphic EQ on all the older Boogies are transistor based (including the Quad and Studio pre's). That's right, the mythical Mark IIC+ has transistors in it (as do a great deal of modern tube amps). Don't worry so much about what you read and just listen to your ears. Try it. If you like it, use it.
