The mov is basically a surge or voltage spike protector to save your amp if lightning hits your house, stuff like that. It is connected across the primary 120V ac. If it blew, shorted it would cause you to blow the circuit breaker in the house, open it wouldn't affect the amp in normal operation, you just lost your spike protection. It is not the MOV.
