Hi Guys. I took my Mark III to a friend's house to do some recording. We ran it through a recto 4x12 and it was outgodamnstanding - for two minutes until I blew a tube.

The amp's output began to drop. I looked at the amp and before I could think more about it the fuse popped and I saw a puff of (nasty smelling) smoke escape from the rear of the chassis. Looked behind the amp, and the left power tube is BRIGHT RED.

So it cools down and I pulled the chassis to inspect. I believe the screen grid resistor has fried. It is a big carbon comp resistor going between two pins on the socket.

I'm thinking the tube died and took the resistor out with it. Can I simply replace the resistor and install a new set of tubes, or do you guys think it's likely something else caused this problem?

My amp does have a bias pot installed but I checked it and everything seems to be fine on that front.
