Hi all,

Anyone else get a popping noise (registers on rack FX input meter) and depending on the effect it is set on delasys, chorus', etc the pop. Makes an electronic fizzing noise - short sound - caused by the pop.

Just started recently - anyone heard of this - the amp and FX both sound spot on, just seems to be a switching issue...

No, try something simple through the loop like a GE-7 and see if it does the same thing. It may be the effects unit itself. If it does not go away, you may have and LDR in the effects loop going bad, or noisy. It may, by chance be the effects loop tube as well making the pop. Some may pop and some may ting. On my three channel DR with the loop on it would make a ting noise when channel switching, and when the tube went bad fully, it went pop,pop and pop. I would start simple before delving into the footswitch and the switching circuit. That would be an ugly job. The switching Matrix on most of the current Mesa's require a degree in advanced EE to figure out.

Thanks for that.

Th amp is only a couple of months old but is a hassle getting it in for repair. May need to though. Annoying. Which tube govrns the effects in and which one the effects out - or will I just check my manual? :)

My MKIV Pops when switching in, but not out of the loop.

I used it (experimenting) with an OD pedal in the loop. Had a Keeley TubeScreamer there, and a Boss Blues Driver... popped with both of them.

I simply stopped using the FX Loop. I am about to swap out all the tubes, will check to see if it still does it afterwards.
