Awesome rig! My wife gives me grief all the time about my equipment. I finally convinced her to let me keep my MKIV I was trying to sell :) ! I don't think I'll ever be without a MIV. Congrats on your new amp!

LOL ...Nothing like a drunk seeking comfort from his drinking buddies!!!

Yeah, brother, I get it. For me it's my MKIII simul head and two 112 cabs (open back and Thiele) in orig 80s Mesa cream tolex. Or maybe its the DC5 sitting there in its classic and pristine beauty. Tone, dynamics, looks ...wow. My gear (guitar/amps) are always out so yeah, I catch myself stopping and staring from time to time. Kind of funny that we can admire this stuff even when they're not even powered up!!
BTW, my wife is no longer surprised and has just chocked it up to my personal neurosis ...we're both just happier that way :D

You seem to like this better than the Bogner ya? Is the Bogner as mid rangy as the mark IV?

I played a lot of amps but haven't found one close to a Mark IV.

I had the uber, fantastic low end. The mkiv can hang, suprisingly, though. If you boost the uber, that is. Otherwise its the same humongous loose lowend like the recto. I can't stand that personally, so I boosted my uber. Very raw and gritty in a good way, with a slight haircut almost like a Soldano or VHT, but more saturation and more palm mute grit. I liked my 5150, Vh100, and mkiv a bit better though, they had more of a fullness to it. Weird, I know. But true to myself.

Shredding: The Uberschall is a very "scooped" amp in general, not that it's a bad thing, it is one of the reasons I purchased it, to get that really compressed extremely tight distortion. However, in a live mix, unless I do add quite a bit of mid-range, to the point of where I don't dig the tone as much, the Uber honestly doesn't cut very well. No matter how nasty and loud your distortion is, if you don't have the right mix of mids, you are going to be overpowered. I had the Mark IV jamming today with my buddies and completely had everyone drowned out, it cuts like no amp I have ever played. They are both completely different monsters, but I still think I may end up selling the Uber, anyone interested?

Eet Fuk: NOTHING beats the low end on an Uber, and I do mean nothing, I've played mostly everything, from Mesa to Bogner to ENGL to Diezel, and the Uber cannot be beat on the low end frequencies. Boosting the uber in the way you said sounds extremely interesting, seeing as how the one thing I dislike about it is the lack of cut and grit. Which is why I like the Mark IV so much, it has what I can only describe as a "raw" distortion, even though it is incredibly smooth. Did you check out the vid I posted? That tone kinda demonstrates what I mean. Thanks for the love guys! Keep it coming :) BTW Eeet...what did you boost your Uber with if you dont mind me asking?

...and a southpaw at that!!!me,too...us lefties must stick together!nice wall o'doom

...dont feel bad...there's more where this came from!and I am married with 2...I just try to keep them downstairs :)ROCK ON

Well, hearing your vid, we have nothing in common musically for tone or playing style. But the #1 amp is the same. That says something about the Mark IV!

Especially when I was gigging, my wife would always notice if I plugged into a different amp (supplied for gig or trying something different). Her response was always, "just play the boogie." God, I love that woman :D

Mind? Why would I mind? This is yet another amp slut anonymous forum, remember? :D It was just a stock sd-1. Not only was the gain all the way down, I had to even turn down the level because the uber has so much grit up front already. Very metal. Very picky beast when it comes to speakers too. That lowend is pretty addictive, even leads in the upper register have this lowmid punch that you can feel, like putting dynamics in. I even modded my Laney for more beef like it. You know, I wouldn't mind checking that amp out again someday. Clean not too shabby either, I just put the volume about all the way, put the dirt ch on noon and used the master as a master, no problems with volume differences, I don't know why people make such a big deal out of it. I'm on dial up, can't see videos, wish I could.

hahaha my wife owns a Steinway grand piano so I basically have a free gear pass for life.

I don't think she quite understands why I have so far used it only to get two of the *same* amp.

Yup, a model S. 1961 Hamburg, not New York, so it's a bit more of an elegant sound, not as lush as the American ones.

Sounds amazing, wish I was a better piano player. My wife's rather good

Heheh! Yeah my gf is not a muso but she has a good ear. When I bought my Recto Cab ($2300 in Aussie dollars) I thought she'd flip! Instead my tone was greatly complimented as was my purchase, followed by a loving kiss! Win win, Mesa + GF lol!

Thanks so much for all your support guys, I know everyone would understand, I have a question about cabs though...I am kinda looking to get rid of my standard Mesa 4x12 cabinet to make a little room. I was thinking of getting a Mesa @x12 Vertical cab, but was curious, which Mark IV head is designed to fit perfectly on the vertical cab? the medium head or the short head? Also, any other Mark IV owners out there running their head into a cab that they really like and would recommend? I want something that is still going to give a decent bottom end. Are there other 4x12's out there that are perfect with the Mark IV? (I may consider even though I'm trying to make room) and suggestions would as always be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

I feel you man,

I've been to my garage a few times where I keep my Mark IV and all my gear right and I just stand and look at my gear for a while, there has been a few times my girl has caught me too and she would ask me the same (what are you doing) but I just say nothing and she walks away.

I think they get jealous at one point because there has been days where I spend more my time playing than with her.
Or maybe they don't understand what it's like to have and amp like a Boogie Mark IV.

Boogie for the win.
Peace

I say that to my G/F allll the time "You're just jealous", because just like you said, there are definately some days that my Boogie gets more attention, hell, even affection than she does LoL. I pull the jealousy card sometimes and she quickly dismisses it, but I know for a fact (especially after you said the same thing) that she is jealous, thanks for the post bud!
