Ordered new TAD's from Doug

Talked to Doug a while this afternoon. I'm in need of new 6L6's for my Carvin valvemaster amp I'm using with my studio preamp and we decided on the TAD 6L6GC-STR's. their the tall skinny bottle modeled after the Phillps 6L6's I believe.

They'll be replaceing a 4~5 year old quartet of =C= 6L6GC's. I'll post before/after sound clips if possible in the music area.

Anyone else used these tubes before?

No I never used these but I used to own some TAD 6l6wgc's and they were some of my favorites when using them in my ROV. Those tubes were a short fat bottle 6l6. I cant remember exactly what they sounded like but I did like them and I remember thinking that they seemed to be a very solid well built tube.

How do the TAD's sound compared to the Winged C's or the Ruby EL34's FRPC?

I'll let you guys know when they show up. probably tomorrow or maybe this afternoon. His shipping usually doesn't take but a couple of days. which is surprising considering they come down here to alabama from NY.

I won't be able to compare them to the Ruby's though becuase my valvemaster amp is the first generation that was 6L6 only. I'll have a good idea of how they sound vs the =C='s thouhg.. and the mesa 6L6gc's. Geez those things are garbage. :?

I guess I can't ask how they sound in the V3 huh! Well I am looking to get a 2 channel Dual Rectifier anyway, so that's cool.
