I just found out about the Nova System and it is VERY tempting to sell all my pedals (except the wah) and try out one of these things. Any thoughts on them? I would be running it in front and not using the loop at all if I had to guess...

I'm with you Musicman. Haven't tried one but very interested. If the overdrive was comprable to my Xotic and fulltone pedals I would love to clear off my pedal board and leave my rack effects at home. I hope someone can review it for us.

It's funny that we musicans can be so obsessed about our pedals. I'll spend hours researching/trying new ones, but I seriously doubt that anyone in the audiance could give a crap if we're using a $250 Xotic or $40 Bad Monkey. I'm as guilty as anyone. The only justification I can make for my self is that it makes me happy. Screw everyone else.

It's all about being happy about that little bit of extra 'something' that takes our tone to a new level (to us anyway)! If we can get there with less effort (i.e. an all in one multi effect unit) then all the better!

so do you currently run everything in front? not to say delays and reverbs cant be used in front (i did for a while in front of a jc120 because it sounded better than in the loop) but i find with distorted channels delays and reverbs sound better in the loop.... so i would consider that too because unlike the gsystem, the nova cant be setup for a 4CM (which i find kind of dumb)..... i would look at what you'd mostly be using it for... if its for the OD circuit i'd find out if you like the sound of that OD first because you can always keep one of your ods and just use the nova in the loop... it just seems like a waste to have that sucker in front because the nova delay and reverb pedals are so good.... its too bad it wasnt designed for a 4CM

so does the nova system allow you to separately route delays independently to your loop, while still allowing you to put everything else through the front of the amp? if so, i MIGHT be interested as well. my other concerns would be- do the delays have spillover? are there dropouts between patches? another thing to think about is (unless you have a TON of pedals) your signal will now be going through a lot more circuitry, components and whatnot, so i wonder about the preservation of the original signal. one thing that bothers me- remember when TC used to mean, "Hand Made In Denmark"? those days are gone. i believe they're now made in thailand if memory serves me.

no, the nova does not allow separate effect loop routing. the G-system does however, but I think even so there is still a limitation. I've decided to keep my pedals for now because of the loop thing.

If it had switching relays, I would buy one of those straight away.

I don't care for the drive function, for me it's pointless in a pedal that 90% of guys are going to use in the loop.

Get rid of the drive function (save some money), give me some relays (cant cost more than a few $, even the G-major has them) and i'll buy one. Until then, missed opportunity imo.

+1 man...

Have you guys thought about the GSP 1101? it will allow seperate routing Of time based effects to the effects loop & pedals to the front of your amp input.

the stompbox models are somewhat accurate to the originals. over drives are pretty good.

there ARE some drawbacks.. for instance. using the 4 cable method.. sometimes causes a ground loop hum. the fix is rudimentary but very effective.. disconnect the ground out of the 1/4 insturment cable that are connected to your amp's send and Return.

the noise gate is in the wrong spot.. it is before the GSP's loop system.. not after its loop's system.. cant gate your Mesa's preamp signal when it is sent into the GSP. necessary for 4 cable method.. Solution is a extra GATE after you MESa 's preamp signal out.

I dont know how well the NOVA system is ... But i think the GSP does a little more. plus the time base effects are pretty good..

Another thing about the GSP and mesa products... You kinda have to run the MEsa WET blend to 100%.. to get no phasing issues.

It happened with both my DUAL recti and TRIPLE RECT. At first i had the wet to 20-30% and send at 12:00.. i had some phasing...

afterwards it had it at 100% and send about 1:00.. WHEN I ENGAGE THE MESA FX BUTTON I DO NOT GET A DROP IN VOLUME> I GET A SMALL BOOST INSTEAD. quite the opposite when i had GMAJOR and other processors. in the loop. BIG DIFFERENCE>

THe GSP EVEN has its own "OVERALL EFFECTS BLEND" parameter easily acessable on the front panel...

If you add the AXESS CF4X controller , like i did you can controll it all with one push of a button..

hope this give a little more insight.
these are the two main issues..

I have tried most floor processors or rackmounts that claim "GREAT TONE..
THey all seem to lack something or another when it comes to tone and true crunch. Or they are not transparent enough.
In my case i still use my TRIPLE RECT head for LEADS< RHYTHYMS< & cleans.. The GSP doesnt do these things well, in my opinion.

I Use the GSP, only for overdrives, wahs, placed in the front of the amp & effects such as chorus, delay, pitch, reverb plus other placed in my amps FX LOOP.

As for the NOVA SYSTEM, its basically a Rackmount built into a floor stomp box system.

I havent heard how it sounds. but it seems that the NOVA is only used for "in front of AMP" applications, or a stand alone floor processor coupled with a power amp configuration/ P.A. .

Another thing i noticed that it seems to have a limited amount of foot switches with out having to "BANK" out. I am pretty sure it can do both "EFFECTS MODE" or "PATCH BANKS"..
