My 50 cal + has been really noisy lately, as I turn up the master the noise (its like a loud hiss) gets worse. Could this mean I need a tube change?

mine had this ... the tubes had become slightly unseated. this also sometimes occurs to me in a crappy electrical setting ... overexnteded amperage in the practice room for example.

ahh, i see so it could just be bad power? Or the tubes could be unseated, how would one go about fixing that?

When I got my amp (it traveled almost 3,000 miles), it was making a weird clicking noise. Long story short, it turned out one of the EL84s got a little unseated during shipping. Just check for any loose tubes, wiggle them a little bit to get them into their sockets. Mine clicked when it went into its socket, so it was pretty loose.

all my tubes are tightly in their sockets, and it still is noisy, any other suggestions?

hi

my caliber 50plus(rack version) hums pretty badly in clean channel but in lead it´s almost quiet. I have tried new tubes... two amp techs have looked my amp - changed few bad resistors... tone got better but noise is still there.
lets put it this way - in studio it bothers me ... cant have good clean sustain.
maybe some one knows how to help me? could it be bad caps? amp tech told me they are in good condition :S...
so anyway... hope your problem is simple...

good luck!

Well as far as my researches go, seems like this is a common problem with this amp. tough 've heard that there is some clean sounding .cal 50+ - but that just might be a "clean ears" ;) anyway if you can faind some mods or fixes - let me know peale!

B-Cool and enjoy!
