Two problems here:

1) There's this 'static' sound coming from my amp. I'm thinking it's the 50/50 power amp though and not the quad, I'm not sure. It has this weird 'crinkle' sound to it, like someone is handling a bag of Ruffles chips :p . I can't quite put my finger on it but the only way I can compare it is that there used to be this bad static sound on my PC soundcard. I'd have to get up and touch the back of it to make the static sound stop. Just imagine rubbing a speaker wire onto a speaker's input jack.

2) Hum. Guitar>Quad>50/50>Stiletto cab. Nothing too fancy, but I've got hum when recording. How do people usually quiet down their racks? I'm using this mainly for recording, so getting rid of some of his hum is going to be necessary. This is going to be especially true since I'm planning on putting a boost pedal in front of the Quad. So it'll be Guitar>Boost>Quad>50/50>Stiletto cab. That'll most likely make it a bit noisier, even.

I get some crackeling when i unplug my input cable....like if im going to an external tuner. but once i plug back in its all good.
Im sure that doesn't help but i know what its like looking answers and not getting anywhere.

cheers

Id also recommend a noise gate...that takes care of alot of shenanigans. That would most deffinatly take care of 60% ish of your problem

+1 on a noise gate. Remember that single coils are generally noisier than humbuckers...

Are your cables ok? This might be the cause of the scratchyness.

The Quad has a groung lift switch... any differences there?

Is the output jack on your guitar faulty?

Try your guitar direct to the 50/50... is there still a problem?

Have you tried switching preamp tubes around yet?

'Deoxit' everything you can from the tube sockets to all contact points, ribbon cables etc...the lot!!

Just did my Triaxis which was suffering and it's sweet now!
