New Tubes! Help!

I just got some Mesa EL-34 str-447's to try out on the outer socks one the power amp tubes. Is it okay to just pop out the 6L6's that are on the outer sockets now and put the EL-34's in?? or is it a much more difficult process? I've heard that sometimes you need to bias tubes but im not quite sure what that is? haha thanks guys.

If its a Recto you have to move the switch on the back of the amp to EL-34 setting.

Are you talking about doing an integrated quad? running both 6L6 and EL34's? Or is this for a Single Recto?

Yeah, just pop the outer tubes out and throw those EL34's in there. Don't worry about Bias as it is preset at the factory and will definitely, without a doubt, work with Mesa EL34 tubes.

The Mark IV should take the tubes with no problems. Have fun and let us know what your findings are.
