I bought a used 2002 dual rectifier solo head and a 2006 mesa cab 2 days ago. The amp sounds amazing but I have a few question...

1-When I changed channel with the footswitch, it makes a popping noise. why?
2-The old owner said he changed the tubes 3 months ago with 6L6's. When do I need to change them or when will I know
3-I'd like to add an effet pedal board...any input

I'm also running an furman PQ3 wich help with the sound!

I'm still struggling finding my tone and trying many different combinations...

1. cycle thru the channels while in standby a few times before turning standby off
2. tubes should be fine in that amount of time
3. analog effects work awesome in the loop...however some pedal boards that are digital don't work as well, read your manual or go to the mesa web site to download it, it tells about setting up your loop levels..etc... also there are many posts on here that will help with all three of your questions.

good luck

Well as far as I know, the sound you are experiencing when you are switching from a channel to channel on the footswitch is simply caused by the change of static electricity in the amp, example switching from high gain to low gain on the amp or vise versa.

Sorry for the vague description man

enjoy!
