Hi all.

Finally my Mark V head Arrived (I was waiting since June).
I tried it in the stored and everything seemed fine.
5 minutes after i turn it on at home i noticed someting strange.
I can't switch to the 3rd channel if EQ is turned on, i get no response from the amp. Only a loud "white noise". Also the led on the channel i switched from goes (I don't know how to explain this in English) on and off very quickly and fading.
When i turn EQ off everything works fine.
Also if i switch to the 3rd channel with EQ off and then turn EQ on everything works fine.
really don't know what to do.
I don' t want to send my head back to the store so they can send it back to mesa in US cus i'll probablly have to wait another month or so.
Its really hard to get mesa gear in Portugal (My head is the 2nd in the country).

Plz guys... Heeeeelp.

Oh and this is the best amp i have ever heard. I absolutly love it.
Works like charm with an Ash Deluxe Telecaster.
(Sorry for my english)

Thanks in advance.
Cheerz..

make sure the cable going from the footswitch to amp is plug correctly... if your problem only happens on channel 3, i'll be checking the preamp tubes specially V3.

good luck

yeah, unplug both ends of the foot switch cable and plug it back in. Something similar happened to me, but it's fine now.

Well, unplugging the footswitch jack didn't help. That lovely noise is still there. didn't had a chance to check the v3 tube.
If i unplug the footswitch and do the same thing with the channel selector in the rear pannel everything seems normal. so i'm guessing the problem should be in the footswitch.
i'm no tech but is it possible that the footswitch is capable of this weird and specific symptoms?! :?

If you are up to it and to make sure you've done everything you can before you turn it into a tech...I would take the chassis out of the cab, turn it upside down, pull all tubes, and look at all the contacts...one of contacts was slighty bent to the side from when I put in a preamp tube without taking out the chassis...I pushed the tip of a ballpoint pen through the contact so it was properly seated...installed all the preamp tubes, making sure the cover springs were placed on top of the tubes and reinstalled the chassis...no crackles now...nothing

And channel three is spread out over many preamp tubes...it's not just V3

I ended up sending my amp back and they just called me and said my amp is coming home.
the problem is was a rele component (don't really know what it is)
Something like this i guess (http://www.altanatubes.com/imagens/produtos/1398/Rele12V.JPG)
Just let you guys know.

I think it also helps to do it with the amp off... secure the cables to the footswitch and then turn the amp on. I had the same issue and tried to redo everything with the amp on standby. for some reason it only worked when I had the amp off, connected everything and THEN turned the amp on. None of my other Mesas responded that way.

They probably mean a "Relay" which is something that switches connections.

I was noodleing on a mkV at the store and it had foot switch problems too. This one couldn't switch the fx loop on/off. It was consistent in that it switched it once but never again untill you unplugged the cord. Just an fyi I guess.
