I bought a 002 with LE 7.1 not long ago, and I'm still getting the hang of everything. The drummer of my band recommended that we get BDF to use for our CD as he used it (or at least thinks he used it) in the past when his old band went into the studio. The idea is to mic up his acoustic kit, play to a click, and then somehow turn the WAV files into MIDI to use with BDF. To have the 5 drums run through BDF, and then keep the overheads for the cymbals. The thing that worried me is that after reading the directions, it seems like BDF wasn't designed as a way to trigger an acoustic kit, but to use with a MIDI controller as an alternative to actually having a drummer. Is there anyway to use the acoustic kit and then use BDF's sounds...or did we buy the wrong program?

Any help would really be appreciated

i have bfd and pro tools. First of all i need to make it clear im a novice at this sorta stuff but i have been using bfd for awhile and im pretty sure the only way to use the sounds is to use some form of midi device. Keyboard, korg padkontrol or vdrums etc. Its basically a virtual drum machine as you have said.

Id if you can convert what ur playing on the acoustic drums to midi then of course you could use the bfd for sounds but i dont know how you would go about that, id be amazed its even possible!

Anyhow, the BFD is very good for ppl without a drummer but you have one so why use it especially as your in the studio???

good luck
