When i opened the box. I found a foot controller in the back with a sleeve that is attached to the cabinet area. That was easy enough to remove, but theres something on the bottom in another sleeve that is secured in the middle. I tried shimming it to one side and seeing if i can take it out, but it doesnt seem to want to. Im not going to force it either.

What the hell is it? I thought about unscrewing the back part where the sleeve is for the footswitch, but I'd figure id ask before i just start dismantling the amp.

I cant account for what it could be since i have the power cable and footswitch + cable as well as the rollers.

Thanks,

-Blake

+1

All sarcasm aside, it's the reverb tank.

Now, now, be gentle on the lad - this may be his first adult amp.
OTOH, he has proven himself to be a Real Man:
"When In Doubt, Take It Apart!" :D

I had completely forgot: when I had a Lonestar, I wanted to change out the speaker. In order to do that, I had to remove the reverb tank. When I did so, I noticed a rattle from inside the bag.
You know that thin wood plank to close the open side, and the rubber spacers and screws to hold the whole thing together? All running around loose inside the reverb bag. Someone was in a hurry to get home that day.
Maybe the OP has a good idea, and we should all check our reverb bags! :D

Thanks for letting me know. I realized it was probably a very noob question because I couldn't find an answer by googling it or looking in the manual. I pretty much just used line 6 amps before this one and have never owned a tube amp before.

The other part that got me confused was having a knob for master volume for all 3 channels. It seemed weird not having a global master volume.

Congrats on your MK V it's an amazing amp play it LOUD!!!!!

Congrats on the purchase of a great amp sudomite!

BTW, not only does the MKV offer individual channel volume knobs, it also has a master volume knob and footswitchable solo boost (controlling all channels) as well as long as the amp effects loop is not set to "hard bypass". When set to "hard bypass" the individual channel volumes act as "master volume" for each channel and the "Overall Master Volume and Solo Boost" features are disabled completely. I prefer having the effects loop engaged (even if not using pedals in the loop) to have the Overall Master Volume active and the ability to utilize the "solo boost" feature when selecting it via the foot controller.

Spend time experimenting with all modes of this amp and have fun!! Definitely read the manual as it is very well written and will enlighten you of the amazing possibilities of this amp!!

Congrats on the new amp! If you are playing at home 10w on Variac is your friend :) Wicked tones at low volumes.

My Express has the same sleeve and I knew what was in it. My question is Why is it in a sleeve? My Traynor YCS100 head didn't have it in a sleeve....

The sleeve insulates the tank from the cab vibrations. It's why you'll see it in the combo versions and not in the head versions.

This response alone was worth reading this post. LOL

When I got my LSS, I was caught off gaurd too by the bag. However, a quick knock knock explained everything.

Take it with a grain of salt sudomite, your among friends now. Enjoy the new amp and don't look back.
