My first Mesa!!- question

So I just got my 2:100 today, it's my first Mesa/Boogie product!! I have one question: Until my custom cabinet comes, all I have is a stereo 2x12 cabinet with 16ohm speakers. If I connect each 16ohm speaker to the 8ohm output jacks, will this in any way damge the amp? According to the manual, it should be ok, but I would like a second opinion.

The 2:100 has 2 seperate power sections, so you'll want to use one channel for each speaker, both using the 16ohm outs. The only time you use the 8ohm outs with 2 16 ohm speakers is when it's a single power section going to both of them.

This amp only has one 8 and two 4 ohm outputs per channel, so that's why I'm not sure.

Then plug them into the 8 ohm outs, they call it a safe mismatch in the manual.
