Hi. Made a couple more f30 clips today, showing the harder sides of the f30. The new ones are: F30 rock, F30 MotleyC, F30 Petrucci. Cheers! :) Hope you'll enjoy! Located lower right corner, red play-buttons.

Very decent sounding! Were these still at apartment volumes? How much gain was from the amp itself?

I have a JP 6 + F-50 + Mesa 4x12 myself, and would love to be able to get those tones when cranked! My speaker placement can't be all that bad, and I'm using the M-Box, which has fairly decent pres. Is the MOTU just that much better at capturing the sound?

Hello seasonofpain! Well, I had to turn up the input gain on the motu pretty much, as I did not play that loud. If you mean "gain" as in "distortion/overdrive", then it is all from the f30! gain set at 3 oclock on the motu, gain set at 12 o'clock MAXIMUM on the f30.
I have never tried the m-box, but i don't think that is the problem. I have heard from a lot of people that the pre's are decent. Not fantastic, but decent! Well the motu is a better interface, but not leagues above! :)
chain as follows: guitar, f30, sm57, motu, mac w. logic pro 7. did a little mastering at last just to get the levels up, but thats it. And remember that i did some doubletracking here and there, and panned a little. that definitely fattens the sound a lot!
Hope you sort it out. Feel free to ask if i can help any more!

And yes it is recorded at appartment level!

Thanks for the reply, andershoeg.

Agreed on the necessity to crank the pre's; that's normal. I usually try to have the volume on the F-50 set at between 9-10 o'clock (no loop attenuation) when recording. Bone-crushingly loud (I luckily live in a house and have isolation headphones), so I can keep the pre's gain level down.

I wonder how much is environment for me. Ever since I moved from a larger, carpeted basement to a smaller, tiled-floor recording space in my new house, my recordings have gone to crap. I wonder if the culprit might be phase cancellation from all the hard-surface reflections, though I'm not sure how much this would affect a single SM-57 located about 1" from the speaker grille. I might have to try a different room (can't afford room treatments at the moment), though none have carpeting.

I also moved from a Mesa horizontal 2x12 to a Mesa Standard 4x12 at the same time, which complicates things. However I would have thought that increases the level of bottom-end, not decreases it!

What speakers are you micing, BTW?

I'm just micing the one that comes stock with the combo. A Celestion Vintage30 I think. Used a sm57 rght in front.

Wow,

Anders, these are close to being the coolest boogie sounds I've ever heard. That searing lead tone tight and accurate. Would be so kind and share the settings and pedals you are using. I also think your rythm tone is way cool. Please share since I just recently fell off the line6 wagon, amp wise that is and bought an F-50.

Evil fingers rule ; )

Definitely a great sound. both clean and distortion sound amazing,
my dual rectifier doesn't sound that good I have to admit.
The recordings are very good as well.

keep up the good work.
bye.

awesome playing and tones that have inspired me to go do some programming!!!! very nicely done. :D
