it's actually not a horrible bass cab. it's a little shy on the lows, but quite tight. it does have quite nice mids and enough highs to slap passably without a tweeter. it is of course quite loud for its size. i would hesitate to gig with one, but two would be fine for medium gigs or larger with pa support. caution, be carefull giving it to much lows. the ev will only take about 180 watts below 100 hz and falls off rapidly below that. for guitar that is a non issue, but for bass it becomes quite a factor. i have had really good luck using one as a top for a biamped rig with a sub. above 150 hz or so the ev will take quite a bit of punishment and get extremely loud. 100 watts or so is all you'll need.
 
Yeah I think maybe I blew my EV that way with my D180.

I have come close to buying a 15" thiele cab (the diesel cabs) to go along with the 12" thiele for Bass.
