Master of puppets - Mark IV

Posted a new clip, sounds a lot better than my previous one I think, but still a lot to learn about recording.

Hope someone likes it.

Does anybody has some advice how to record/master better?

No Post EQ btw, just sm57 directly into PC.

the tone is mostly there, but it's kind of grainy. I don't know if it's reverb, or too much gain? The sound you have going works a lot better on the Orion clip you have. The puppets sound is a little cleaner than that to my ears. The playing is pretty good for the most part. Obviously none of use have the freakish popeye arm James does!

It was mostly to test the new mike I have since sunday, so the playing isn't that good(but its all downstrokes! ).


The original sound isn't really what I'm after, I like it somewhat fatter and more raw.

Sounds good man, good playing too. That's my favorite Metallica song to play.....it's so much fun.

Nice job, man! Good song choices, too. "Orion" has always been one of my all-time favorites from Metallica. Probably the first song I heard from them that really made me look at them twice as a "legitimate" band. (for lack of a better word..)
