Today I had my first experience due to a poor connection at the back of the amp from the Footswitch cable. Thankfully some of you had written and responded with the problem and solution already. It seemed like in a few brief seconds it went pop pop pop and then started machine-gunning so I just shut it down, removed and replaced the cable a number of times and it has worked fine ever since. I think it would have been a bit worrisome if I hadn't known about it. It pays to read through the older posts. - George

Yes, I experienced the same thing, but my problem might be the actual cable. Swapped the connections from footswitch to the amp, now I connect the sketchy one by the footswitch and the known good one to the amp, worked since. Although that only may be a "band-aid" fix to the problem and not really a long term viable solution.

I noticed just wiggling the plug a bit at the amp end caused similar results. Maybe it's not a perfect plug or socket. Seems like some kind of clamp to hold it in place would be a good design idea.

I have an earlier model (with the bar across the back instead of the cage around the tubes), and I always give the cable a couple wraps around that to relieve the stress on the jack. No problems with it in two years.

It's a finicky connector. The most annoying aspect of the whole amp. Simply a bad choice of parts and design (for the connectors not the footswitch itself).

Now why didn't I think of that. :?

I have the model with the cage around the tubes so after giving it some slack, I wrapped the footswitch cable around the handle on top of the amp a couple of times as protection against accidentally pulling the footswitch too far from the amp and damaging the connector. So far that has worked ok for me.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. It seems that others have experienced a similar problem. Fortunately, I have never experienced any of these issues with my MkV combo after 2 years of ownership.

Hopefully, you get the problem sorted out very soon!
