Hey guys. Santa Claus will be bringing me a Mark V Combo in the upcoming weeks. I don't think he heard about the strippers incident in Montreal. Then again, maybe he's been there, done that.

What I'd like to do is build a stand, probably out of plywood, to lift it up a few feet to be able to better tweak it instead of always bending down. I do most of my playing in my basement studio, and I will be sitting on a chair most of the time. I might use the bottom for storage for extra cables and stomp boxes. Do you have any examples of what you did?

I'd also consider a store bought solution, if there are any available.

Thanks!!

I have one of my amps on an old coffee table. I have some stomp boxes on the coffee table and a couple of pedal boards underneath.

Google "amp stand". :D

I did but wanted to see what you guys came up with for your own situation. I think I'll go with this:

I'd build a small platform to put it on with heavy duty caster under it so I can fiddle with the rear panel controls.

why not make an empty "cab" that is get some plywood and make a box thats is the width of your amp, and maybe 14"-18" tall. you can try to get the black tolex and grill cloth (or whatever is on your amp) and have a dummy cab, so if you take it out it looks cool. just velcro on the grill cloth so you can take it off to access what you store in it. you don't have to put a back on it so it would be light too

Quick question. When you use the elevated stand do you lose any sound? I remember using one with a marshall amp I had, and it lost something soundwise. Couldn't put my finger on it, but it was there. Maybe it was a marshall thing.

Great question. I'd think the "loss" would be something similar to a cab on casters vs one sitting on the floor. The low end suffers but its not the quantity that suffers. its as if without casters, the low end is more defined.

Oh wow. I really like that. And it's made in Canada! Woot.

Thanks for sharing.
