I've had my Mark IV several months now and have had no problems whatsoever. No popping noises when switching channels. I remember my Rectifier use to do that.

On the RK 1 I never had a problem switching triode/pentode. It was quiet and never blew out. I think yours was a fluke. My 2555 Silver Jubilee has made it 20 years without a problem.

On the MK IV I only switch to standby only when switching from tweed to full. On the RK, I switch to standby when going from bold to spongy. Otherwise it trips my breaker and my kids get pissed when the cartoons go out.
