Hi fellas, would you say that this amp looks ok, or would it need work, thanks.

From this distance it looks about as good as my '86 purple, which works fine.

That's a LOT of money for a red stripe chassis, probably cheaper to just wait for one to show up in the US and have it shipped to you!

How do you like your purple stripe?
Would you say it has less gain on the R2 channel?
I never heard one and I am just curious.
Best regards
Daniel

I don't need any *more* gain on R2, that's for sure. It's just short of metal, basically, you could use R2 to play pretty much any classic rock. R2 is pretty boomy, though, the rhythm sounds are big.

From the other MkIIIs I have heard I really do think that the gain differences between the stripes are less than the differences you'd get between different preamp tubes in the same amp, regardless of stripe.

The price is a little high but it is the UK so prices will be higher this side of the pond. My concern is that the guy has just recently sold an empty hardwood combo, so I hope he is not breaking them up to maximise his return. :(

Its a great amp . I will never part from mine .

You do not see that many red stripes for sale , and I recall a combo going on ebay for over 1500$ USD . With a road case . Cheap for this caliber of tone in my opinion .

My daughter (6) says I sound like Godzilla wearing guitar boots .

Now that is too funny! You should get her to write a few lyrics for the band. :D
