FINALLY good news- MB called yesterday and quickly found and fixed the problem!
It was something with the standby switch! They said the part was faulty.
They replaced it and soldered some wires to it that normally are attached by push on (or something).
They also said they did a couple mods that will make the rectifier tube more stable. ( My amp is an early serial number).
Best part, they are covering it for free! Wow!! I feel a lot better about the company standing behind their product.
