Hey all,

I've never really done much home recording other than with my line 6 toneport, but my band is looking at recording a home demo in the near future and I hoped maybe I could get some suggestion on mixers. I'd really like something I can plug into my computer and just start recording. I'll need something with a minimum of 4 xlr ports because we'll be recording drums with it (as well as guitar, but separately). We're also looking at 4 because they are cheaper.

Thanks for any help.

Well, i think that this thing would be a nice choise for you

It's not a mixer, but you can record 4 XLR channels at the same time directly into your computer, you'll need some software like cubase or someting. I think that this thing is more flexible that just a mixer, I have one and it's just collecting dust, while i'm using direct audio interface.

i have the new mackie 1202 vlz

they have some features you will definetely need like subrouting etc.
and the noise to sound ratio compared with the mic preamps is just fine. plenty of headroom and easy to adjust.

i work with tube condensor and the results are just fine! do the playback with it as well, though the mixdown of tracks is done in the sonar.

+1 on the Mackie. I have a CFX12 for home & am thinking about the 1202vlz3 for traveling.
