I'm gonna run a thread in the Boogie Classifieds. "WTB GAS Relief!!!"

I was just about to list the Rectoverb on ebay when a good friend came over.

He plays Fusion and is really into dark distorted tones.
I just got a gig in a Classic Rock/Southern Rock/Outlaw Country band, so I needed something with much less gain and an incredible clean tone.

Somehow, we worked out a trade where he got the ROV & my Lonestar 2x12 cab with Hellatones. I got an older LSC 50/100 in custom Wine Buggy tolex in MINT condition.

I had the LSS for a while and loved the tones, but hated the delay when switching channels. Guess I'll have to find a way to get rid of that delay.

Anyway......
I need a good OD pedal that works really well with the LSC.

I need to get great crunchy rythms with the pedal on Channel 1, and I need it to work really well with Channel 2 to push me into Santana territory.

I have a Fat Boost, which works decently, but really want more than it can offer. A few guys have mentioned a Compressor, which I will get, but that won't get me the CRUNCH.

Basically, we will be playing a lot of covers from CCR to Eagles to Skinnard, to Widespread Panic, as well as writing a lot of original material.

The 4 pedals that I've been looking at are:
T-Rex Moller
Hot Drive-N-Boost III
OCD
Tech 21 California

I have a Fulltone Distortion Pro and the LSC Channel 2 hates it.

FWIW, I play a Mark III and/or Maverick and don't prefer the Carl Martin or Fulltone pedals. They sound too "electronic" to me.
My ears like the MI Audio Crunch Box (Marshally) and the TS9-flavored Blue Boy.
However, in the interest of full disclosure, I didn't like the LSC, either. My Mark III and a Thiele fit in almost the same space, and after 20 years, my dinosuar ears are dialed in to the Mk III sound.
Take the LSC reverb tank out of the bag and make sure it's all assembled with the grommets and bottom plate, etc. Mine wasn't. All the stuff was just thrown in the bag.
One final thought: you may be able to find side-by-side demos of these pedals on YouTube, at least the OCD and Crunch Box. Check out the Gear Page.

I have an older LSC 50/100. I use a Zendrive OD pedal and a Barber Tone Press pedal. While searching, I went through a Fulltone GT 500--Keeley modded TS-9 and a Seymour Duncan Twin tube. Prefer the Zen to any and all of the ones I tried. Very Musical.
PS I love my LSC as long as I can turn it up a little. I isolate the 8 ohm extension cab and unplug the C90.
I use the combo more like a head for my house gig with ext cab. If you can turn em up a little, they are killer sounding

I just tried it with a TS-808. I have to say that so far, for a boost, I really like the Fat Boost. It does everything that I could get the TS to do in the Boost department. Of course, it's not an Overdrive pedal, so it looses in that category.

For the type of music you listed I wouldn't do the Crunch Box. That pedal doesn't do low gain crunch, It does in your face crunch! I had a Keeley BD-2 that captured some of those bands. I generally found ch 2 not to be pedal freindly. It's got to a very transparent pedal. I have a Barber LTD SR/mod that can make the transition, but I still don't use it on ch 2

I plan on trying out a Blues Driver pedal tonight. I have a huge book of mods that I can try on it if I think it has a little potential.

I thought that channel 2 didn't like pedals as well. Then, I turned off the Drive function and it loves the OD-808 now, as well as the Fat Boost.

Dude. I have a Blues Driver (Keeley modded) and I LOVE it! Stevie in a pedal...

pedal->drive->ch2 gain = one big mess (for me)
Seriously, with just the drive and gain, things can get buzzy muddy real quick if you set them too high.
As for pedal, I have an TS-808, OCD, and Blue Driver.
The OCD and Blue Driver are collecting dust in the closet. Can't do w/out the TS-808. The OCD and BD sound like the gain on the SS amps to me, not a bad thing but it doesn't sound like tube anymore.

Try the BB Pre Amp from Xotic for with the gain set low, Perfect booster for my LSC 50/100.

I'll throw a "wrench" in the gears here! I have a pretty OD friendly pedal board consisting of TU-2, Budda Wah, OCD, Zendrive, BarberBBEQ, Crunch Box, and Boss DD-6. This board works wonders with my "blackface" DRRI, and PRRI, and my HRD 4X10, but I've found that it is serious "overkill" with my LSC. I'm finding all the tones I need just with the great clean ch. 1 and the great OD ch. 2 of the LSC. I have EL34's and JJ-pre amps in it and I have everything I need within these two channels and my vol. control on my strat or tele. The LSC reverb takes up the slack of the delay pedal if I need a little splash. To me, with the 34's in it, (minus the reeder mod), ch. 2 kicks some serious butt. Keep the bass down and have at it. From now on it's just Guitar--LSC, with LSC pedal for ch. switching and vol. boost. I run a little on off pedal for the rev. also. Great grab and go amp. "We don't need no stinking pedals"!
