You bought a Lonestar. You love it. It's the best amp you've had in decades. Sure, even on 10 watts it's crushingly loud on Sunday mornings... yet sometimes... occasionally... once in a while you think :: I need MORE gain.

Perhaps you're playing that Comfortably Numb into Fortunate Son thing you've worked out and it's perfect then you think - Hey I know; I'd like to play Reign In Blood or Beat It Up Right maybe even a quick rendition of that Viking Metal song that's banging around your head all week but alas your Lonestar wasn't built to do that.

What pedal/effect are you willing to attach to your Lonestar to get it screech like a Valkyrie?

Try boosting your input with a Boss GE7 eq pedal, push the output up just a tad and the highs a teeny bit... flat otherwise. The results are shockingly metallic for an LSC. Toss your favorite OD pedal in the chain right after that and you're in surplus gain territory, probably not even necessary.

ellem52, thanks for the laugh - the title cracked me up. I just imagined seeing that "Lonestar Death Metal & You" on a self-help title at Barnes & Noble.

OK, maybe it's just me, but I got a kick out of it.

I agree the metal muff will take you there and beyond, get the one with the top boost feature too, awesome pedal for the money

I use a greedtone, I don't know if it's "br00talz" territory, but I get all the gain I want out of it.

closed back cab. gain 10 drive 10 treble near 10. bass near zero. mids to taste. even the slightest bit of boost of any kind should get you there, although I can play Bark at the Moon and stuff with a lonestar without a boost.
