Hi to all:

Can we use any other tubes (6l6's maybe) in the Lone Star Special,
or are we stuck with the EL-84's?

Also, anyone know of a site that has the schematic for the Lone Star Special on line?

Thanks a bunch,

Art

I love those EL's, btw. :D

Are you not happy with the LSS sound and prefer the LSC instead?

I'm happy with the sound. I was (am) just concerned with how hot they run.

I mean, they are too hot to touch, even just sitting there without any sound.
Is that normal?

I would say so, yes. I've noticed the same thing with mine and have not had any problems with them... all I would say is make sure you have a decent amount of clearance behind the amp as the manual directs and keep that fan running. :)

Just let them burn man, thats what they are supposed to do. Those tubes being hot is what gives it such sweet tone, and with the 5 watt mode you can drive em' hard. Bring it to the point of melt down and enjoy the sweetness. :D BBBB

Thanks BBBB.

Wonder how I'd ever get a schematic of the Lonestar Special?
I think that it would be nice to have for educational purposes.
