paid a visit to bob @ eurotubes today, i left with a full retube for the lsc.
what a difference, not subtle at all in this case. the mud is gone, the harsh brittle highs are gone, replaced with a wonderful balance across the spectrum, highly touch sensitive, and BALLS. its like a different amp. give the guy a call.

What tube models did he put in your amp? I don't have a problem with mud using the stock tubes, but I like the idea of getting more touch sensitivity. I once put JJ's in my Hot Rod De Ville and I thought they were too dark sounding. Do they sound dark in the LSC?

ecc83's, 6l6's. one of the ecc's is matched, goes in the pi slot. that may have alot to do with the transformation. the amp seemed to be fighting itself, now it lets go of the notes with a beautiful bloom and depth, and no harshness. the drive is alot smoother as well. the interesting thing to me is that i am running lower rated tubes, and flipping the rear switch to el34 bias. a little birdie who shall remain nameless suggested this, and man, does it work. i'm not a tech, the idea is to bring the bias up to a hotter level, not cold like the factory setting. the amp runs cool and shows no sign of being stressed. i didn't care for the amp before, now i see what all the fuss is about!
BTW, it was runnng the original tubes, they were plenty powerful, not worn out.

not dark. beautifully balanced. the highs were standing out due to the harshness, they are now silky smooth and present.

Yup - JJ's in the lSS and LSC are a beautiful thing.

Highly recommended.

remember, a little birdie told me about this, its our secret.
101 bucks for this set, 90 bucks for the same set with e34l outputs, which is a hot rod el34. great tubes, i have 'em in my matchless clubman.

i'm not a tech. i think the problem is going the other way, using el34 with 6l6 bias, that will blow stuff up. i just got through workin' it out for an hour straight. killer tone, the amp runs cool as a cucumber. remember, this is recommended with tubes of a specific rating. give bob a call!

I can vouch for that :D
When I put el 34s in mine and the bias switch didn't work **** started burning. It sounded amazing, but it stunk like hell! :D

yes, i remember that thread. going the other way appears to be fine in conjunction with the properly rated tubeset.
