Till now I hadn't tried playing my Electra Dyne combo through another external cabinet. Tonight for the hell of it I decided to disconnect the mesa speaker and connect the combo into my Marshall JCM 800 412 cabinet loaded with Celestion G12-65 speakers from the 80's. Wow did it ever sound great!
The sound was not as harsh through the Marshall as it was via the original combo speaker from the Electra Dyne. To be fair I don't think the ED speaker has had enough time to break in properly so the sound may change a little over time.
I was actually considering selling the cabinet but after what I just heard I think I will hand on to it for a little while longer. I almost regret getting a combo now. Maybe I can find a good deal on a ED head on ebay
