I'm just curious why you need 4 Ace's :p

4 Aces. thats bordering on obsessive compulsive dude.

are you gonna play them all at once? keep one or two boxed up just in case?

no all at once.

tried it already by combining with some other amps, great.
with the four same amps linked it will be an outstanding sound.
let me review when they have arrived and the setup is adjusted.

wow, insane!

what modes and settings are each amp set at?

Im almost there guys,, im about ready to make the jump..
Would someonesay something positive about the Ace, the Ace needs to sound good no matter what tubes are in it.
Can the Ace seriously get a sweet violin lead sound on its fluid drive setting????/ How is it for lead work????? I dont want no Mark4.......
Or would the Mark4 be better? Im tired of brutal gain,,, I never use it.
So could the Stiletto Ace be the answer?

Get both the MKIV and the Stilletto. The Ace does the crunch sound so much better than the MKIV. Both have a great singing lead tone, but voiced differently. They are both great amps. Get the one that suits your style of playing better.... 8)

I thought you were inferring that the Ace's were being shipped with crappy tubes.

get your Stiletto and determine yourself if the tubes are inferior . Trust your own ears . Ive never had any problem with mesa tubes but that doesnt mean they are right fro everyone .

solely IMO, I think that Mesa stock tubes are sh!t. both my rectoverb I used to have and my Ace head, which i currently have, improved in sound tremendously when I did a full retube with good tubes from a good source. My Ace sounded really thin and brittle with stock tubes, and a full retube made it the amp it should be.

I always go back to the Mesa tubes. I've tried most brands. The only exception is the 6V6 tube by Electro Harmonix. It has a very sweet and rounded tone, but doesn't last very long, even in the tweed mode of my MKIV.

no doubt - it surely is!

but as already said, the tone of the ACE is quite unique.
you made the right choice, the amp will suit you.

hey recto-robbie!

can we call you stiletto-robbie already?

My ACE's arrived and I am more than happy with the sound. Can't wait for the first live performances. Was used to have two 100w jcm heads and one 4x12 on each side. but this sound is AWSOME now. The setup is (first) like this: One preamp serves the processors and the return feeds right and left an ACE in the loop section, the Slave feeds the next Return. Slave needs full volume or causes humming.

have to get rid of the wheels - the towers start moving 8)

Yea I guess I would be stiletto-robbie now. I finally made the jump.
I decided to go with the Deuce stage II. Very nice. My family and I have been busy this past week so I havent had all that much time to spend with it.
Although I have made a couple quick ventures into the basement.
And just the other day I picked up a new 4x12 traditional cab.. Man this thing is tight. you can immediatly notice the difference between it and my old 2x12 recto cab. I will also say that I cant see any problem with this amp cutting through the mix. It is a very bright amp but have found that dialing back the presence and treble some help with that. Also I run an EQ on my pedal board so I can get most every sound out of it.

Someone mentioned above that they changed out the stock preamp tubes which helped some with the brightness,,,, any suggestions????
