I played a JCM2000 DSL 50 the other day and really liked it. First Marshall I've played in a while that sounded good to me (I'm currently a Stiletto user). Is the TSL line a DSL with an extra channel, or is it voiced differently? A 3rd channel would be nice but I don't want to mess with the nice tone I got out of the DSL 50.

Is the JCM 2000 DSL 50 discontinued now? It's kind of hard to find anywhere.

I've owned a DSL 50 and a TSL60 and I've played a TSL100 loads of times and I can honestly say the DSL50 is far, far, far bettter than both the TSL's. The TSL's sound way thinner and fizzier than the DSL.

I'm sure the DSL is a fine amp but honestly I'd just stick with your Stiletto. I'd try swapping some tubes if you aren't entirely happy with your sound before you go buying a new amp.

The TSL's have a parallel loop which I've never liked on any amp. I tend to agree with Botch in that IME the TSL's sounded a little thinner, not sure why. I do like the seperate EQ option though as the Crunch mode on the DSL's are voiced drastically different than the rest of the amp.

Yes the DSL 50's are now discontinued with the introduction of the JVM 210 and 205.

I'm hoping they increase in value as the JCM 800 2205 and 2210 did after they were discontinued. So get one while they are cheap. They still make the TSL series if memory serves.

I own one of these rascals. Good amp, I use it as my slave amp from one of my DR's. I don't like the second (red) channel. The green channell pushed is just wonderful. Also the cleans on this amp is very usable.

The TSL is not the same amp as the DSL. It is voiced differently and I personally can't stand the tone of a TSL. The TSL's clean sound is garbage and the other 2 channels are just buzzy.

The DSL is one sweet amp. I've had mine for 10years and I still love it. Love the cleans, crunch and lead. It also does the mid scoop/deep bass thing which is cool for the newer nu-metal and nickelback type stuff. I rarely use those features though. The DSL is a real classic if you ask me.

You're right that they discontinued it. You can get them for real cheap on the used market now. For around $700, you're getting a lot for your money. They've had a pretty good run of about 11 years.
