I just got my ToV.

there's one thing that it is weird though. on the orange channel, either on clean or on vintage mode, when the gain or the volume are below 9 o'clock, I hear cracks and pop. as soon as I turn up the knob that it is low it goes away. this noise happens especially on low strings attack.

is this a problem with the tubes, or is it supposed to sound like this at low volumes?

this just happens on the orange ch.

I just found out that this noise happens only when the reverb is turned on, the more I crank the reverb the more I get this.
now I knew the reverb doesn't work, so something is causing this from the reverb.

"Houston....you've got a problem"

My T-Verb has never had that issue. Probably just a reverb repair. Good Luck!

it's def related to reverb. I changed v4 and v5 with no results. when I shake the amp I can hear the springs through the speaker.

Banging the reverb pan will always cause you to hear the springs, it's what it does, it amplifies the sound of the springs. If you cause the springs to bang into something inside the pan they'll make a noise. Old reverb pans may be more sensitive than newer ones, but even new ones will make a noise if shaken hard enough.

The crackling could be a bad capacitor somewhere in the amp. If you really want to figure out if it's the reverb pan you can unplug the rca jacks to the pan and see if you still get the noise. If you don't get any noise it's probably the reverb pan. You should also try swapping out v1. The first half of V1 is used as the reverb recovery stage so if that half of v1 is not working properly the reverb would be affected.

so I did some more testing.
first of all I tried to replace v1, v4 and v5, one at a time and also replace v4,v5 at the same time with two working 12ax7. no results. I then unplugged the reverb and same thing. I inspected all the connection in the reverb tank and everything is ok.

But I narrowed down the problem to something related to the reverb circuit. If I turn gain and volume to zero, and turn up the reverb a hiss shows up and it gets louder as I turn the reverb higher. Also the guitar signal is bleeding and I can hear it clearly through the speakers, this with volume and gain to zero. I don't know if this is the dry signal of my guitar that instead of going to the reverb tank goes out to the speaker.
it is almost the same sound of a guitar going into a D.I.

what should I check next?

I called Mesa and left a message to Michael but he hasn't called me back.

I am not trying to thread jack, but man alot of people have alot of problems with Tremoverbs dont they? I had no idea they were so different from a regular Recto. Hope you get your problem fixed!

The only problem I've read is earlier attached chord models running EL34s can get too hot. Hard to say if other problems are related to this issue. It was corrected on later non attached chord models. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
