Is there a "Mark guide" showing differences?

Ok, so after reading a lot here lately, I'm cringing at even asking this, but hey. I'm relatively new here and came here to learn so....

What Mark III model would be able to get the closest tonally to the IIC+ lead tone?

I'm afraid to even ask my second question.

I think it is the Red Stripe but some people think it is the Green Stripe.

I have a factory IIc+ and a V and I have no difficulty distinguishing them for each other. The basic timbre (IIc+ mode on the V) comes kind of close but the feel (attack and so on) is totally different - for starters, the V is appreciably tighter and more compressed. Also, the sound of the original IIc+ has this unique ringing, shimmering quality that I don't really hear on any other Mesa I currently have or have previously had.

Out of curiosity, have you tried the IIC+ mode at 10 watts in triode? There's a harmonic that comes into play due to the single-ended class A setup in 10W. Made a difference for me when comparing to my Mark III. May not be what you meant.

Thanks, dlpasco, I'm aware of your 10W experiments and samples, and I must say they sound pretty darn good. In fact, they inspired me to experiment with the 10W mode - but unfortunately that didn't exactly work for me.
The main issue with the 10W mode, for me, was that in a band context, it sounded somewhat underpowered to my ears - not so much the volume, but the quality of tone. The 90W mode carried much more balls and authority, at full band volume. (Basically a similar kind of sonic difference as with a Triple Rec vs a Dual or with a 100W JCM800 vs a 50W one.)

Also, the Mark V 10W mode does not quite produce the same kind of 'ringing' sound I get from my IIc+. On the V, it is...somehow leaner, more even and more modern. Hard to put the difference to words.
