G'day Guys,

Long time reader... first time poster...

I have an early / mid 90's 2 channel Dual Rectifier that I have had now for about 3 years and I love the thing to death!!

I am having a problem all of a sudden and I am wondering if some of you experts could point me in the right direction?

All of a sudden I am having a problem with the volume being quite soft and then being loud and then goes back to being soft and well you get the picture... I am a bit hopeless when it comes to knowing the in's & out's of amps especially when it comes to tubes and what not.. is this problem an easy fix? I was going to get it retubed as I thought that may be the problem but I thought I better ask here first :)

Also.. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but my footswitch won't change between channels on my amp.. the light goes on and off on the pedal but wont change on the amp... happened the same time as the volume problem started.

Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated

Cathode Followers have always been a little touchy. Merlin Blencowe and the Gents at AX84 came up with some protection for CF circuits that helps quite a bit. You would probably have to cut a trace or two to make it work with Rectos, etc ... but it will save the tubes and possibly other components in the long run.

Here's the Diagram:
