I'm set for valves, now about Class A volume change....

I'm gonna swap the outer valves on my Mark IV to EL34s, I really like the idea.

My question is, if mid gig I want to change to Class A via a footswitch, will my volume suffer as I'd only be using 2 power valves?

Yup, down from 85 watts to 50 watts, whether you use EL34's or 6L6's in the outer sockets.

Bah, defeats the point of having it footswitchable then.

Not really, you can assign it to different channels using midi and set their levels accordingly, or you could switch to class A with an o/d pedal or such like. I think you'll want to keep it in simul class with the EL34's fitted when you hear it anyway. :lol:

And of course you being from the UK too, do realise that if you use the external switching jacks the footswitch is disabled ? :wink:
