I like how the ad says "exact formulations of the 1987 RG finishes". Which basically means it'll chip if you breathe on it wrong. ;)

Still, I love my '89 black 550, dings and all. Sounds great with Steve Special + Blue Velvet + Air Norton. and playability is awesome.

I feel the same way about my '89 USA Custom RG. Metal Leopard, Duncan Blues Saraceno and a Parallel Axis Neck.

I would really love a DY. I can remember playing a few of those in stores back in the '80's (cripes, I am old...) and wanting one but not having the cash for it. Still, I absolutely loved that bright, in-your-face Desert Yellow. Such a true '80's color.

major Ibanez distributor near me ordered 6 sets (red, yellow, black)
ended up getting one set

I now own 2 of them (DY and RFR)

nice guitars but still doesn;t compare to my 89' 550
my favourite guitar I've ever owned

Is there something different about the re-issues or do you just prefer your older axe?

not much difference really besides 18 years of battle
new ones feel tigher/heavier/neck feels a little thicker
might be because I've sanded the finish off of my older one
older one feels like part of me when I play
and it's lightning fast

it's like your favourite t-shirt

you can get a new one but it will never feel the same as the original
