I originally purchased this amp because of the simplicity as a grab and go for live performances. I really liked the fact how much I like this amp with stock tubes and speakers. I wanted to get back to playing guitar instead of tweaking my amp settings. I play in a band that only practices 2 times a month and plays live every other month. The problem is I have already blown 2 power tubes and 1 speaker. This amp sits at our practice room so it doesnt get used except ocasionaly. Anybody having similar problems? I love this amp but I am starting to question its reliablility. I have owned a stiletto and a Lonestar classic and never had even a hicup with either.

mine is very reliable. i crank it everyday, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day! it has gone through a lot of power ons and offs these last 9 months. but i have a VERY early run ED...like one of the first 60 off the production line.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have had excellent reliability out of my ED. While I haven't played it 24/7.....I have played it semi-regularly over the past 5 months and have definitely "pushed it" several times during that time and have never experienced any problems with the amp regardless of how I set the controls.

I will say that at one time when "very seriously" cranking the amp to ear splitting levels....I did experience an electronic burning smell that I didn't like and quickly reduced the volume settings, and in fact, powered down the amp to let it heal. The next day (and many days thereafter), I have fired it up without any issues whatsoever.

Sounds like you may need to get it checked out.....or most probably just replace the power tubes. If you recently purchased it.....you should be able to get a new set of power tubes free of charge.

I wish you the best of luck!

One more comment....

Make sure that all 4 power tubes are either 6L6's or EL34's AND that the bias switch in the back is set accordingly!!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I did check to make sure the switch is in the 6lL6 mode and the power tubes are all mesa 6L6 yellow #10 I did already get replacement tubes under warranty.

Bummer.....

Do you have a head and cab...or the combo? If head/cab is there a big mismatch with the speaker that you were/are using? If combo, do you have the speaker plugged into 8 ohms?

I realize this amp supposedly can "handle" some mismatches with the speaker cab, but am just throwing out some ideas. I can't imagine that you have "blown a speaker" with this amp without something seriously wrong.

Trying to help and best of luck!

I have had my Dyne since January. It is the 112 combo and I have not had any problems with it. I hope you can get yours checked out
soon. I could not imagine having that much trouble. It is really great to play. Good Luck! 8)

Wow. I have had not one problem with mine. You should talk with mesa about replacing it as a lemon.

Well I went to our practice place Wednesday to load up my gear for a show we were playing Thursday night. I got my new replacement speaker from Mesa, so I installed and and turned on my amp and I had to turn the master up to 12:00 just to get a decent stage volume. I normally have it at about 9:00 and thats pushing it. It sounded good but it wasnt having the normal output. In a panic i called the store where I bought and explained what was going on. They gave me 4 new power tubes and suggested that if this doesnt fix it that it is probablly time to send it back to mesa. Well we played a straight 1.5 hour set and my tone was incredible. Even my wife who has never said anything specifically about my sound said, you had some pretty amazing distortion last night (technical talk) I did have my stiletto ace on standby just in case. So hopefully this is the end of my amp problems. This really is the perfect live amp. Simple to set up and tone for days. I ran it on the blue channel with a analogman sd-1 for boosts with a dd-7 in the loop and it was very inspiring.

The jewel light bulb blew after 4 months on my combo. Other than
that, no problems here.

Yes, I absolutely LOVE the 'dyne too. The clean is great and the crunch is wicked. I was playing one at one of the local music whores (stores) today while I was waiting to test bass gear. DO WANT but not enough to sell my Dual to afford it!
