Yah, I agree that times are probably even tougher for smaller higher-ticket amp makers but a lot of them don't have much of a business back end to support, it's just nine or ten guys, some of whom are probably part-time, and a small workshop. Steve Fryette could probably run his business out of a double garage.
Also, just because somebody mentioned Diezel and H&K, those (and Engl) are a lot cheaper in Europe where Mesas are goofy expensive and where the economic slowdown hasn't been nearly as bad except for th e UK. A bunch of my family in Spain says that the only thing they've noticed over there is real estate has dropped and that's just because Brits aren't buying stuff up anymore.
