I found an ROV combo on Craigslist today for $400! Couldn't pass it up.

What a great amp! I was trying to save for a Roadster (or the RK 1 combo that I also found on CL) when I found this one!
I know it's not as versatile as a Roadster or RK, but it sure will do the trick for the price!

Anybody have a good mod to make the reverb a little slower and more lush? It's not bad, but it sure isn't great. The decay is way too fast and hard, not tube like at all.

Congrats. That's cheap.

The reverb is weak as you've noticed. Pretty sad considering the price of the amps when new. There's no excuse for it. I use a Tech 21 Boost RVB w/trails pedal in the loop. It's a very good sounding pedal and is very adjustable. I keep the amps reverb off obviously.

I know of no amp mods, plus a pedal allows you more variation, anyway.

:D Once in a while, I find a guy that is moving back to the Mainland and has to sell all of his stuff cheap. I feel bad for him (I've been there twice myself), but just couldn't pass this amp upE It needed a handle and has several tolex dings, but who cares. I had a handle in stock (last one) and the amp is so big and heavy that it's just going to get more dings as it's life goes on.

As for pedals, I have a G-Major 2 and a Ground Control Pro that I'll be using with it.
I already modified the loop to Series.

I'm sure there has to be a way to change the speed of the reverb. I don't remember much about soid state circuitry, so I don't know where to start.

Don't modify anything!

Throw a Holy Grail Nano in the loop and call it done.

I have a Series 2 RV Head and I love it.

Put a TungSol in V1 and it will make a world of difference for the cleans.

It's a great amp

The guy didn't have any pictures up and he barely had a description.
The ad just said, "Mesa Boogie Combo Amp."
He said it was a Single Rectifier 1x12.

I almost didn't call, but I just traded my Dual Rec for some very much needed work on my truck's exhaust (and I got a sweet Schecter C-1 Classic neck thru on the deal).
My band played a party on Saturday night. I was really missing the Recto's distortion. The DC-5 is great, but it's no Recto!

The guy said he had no way to take a picture so I sent him a picture of an ROV combo. He kept insisting that it was only a Single, not the ROV.
I called him and asked if it had reverb. When he said that it did and that a few other guys were interested, I told him I would be there in 20 minutes!

It still had the stock tubes. I replaced V1 with a JJ and V2 with an NOS Groove Tubes USA (not sure who made it), and the clean channel is much better now. I also replaced the power tubes with Ruby/JJ 6L6's.
